About DutchLetter

DutchLetter explains Dutch official letters to people who do not read Dutch. It was built for internationals living in the Netherlands and for drivers abroad who receive a Dutch traffic fine.

The service reads a photo or PDF of the letter. It identifies the sender and the type of letter and it calculates the legal deadline from the date on the letter. The paid report explains the letter in plain English and prepares a draft reply in formal Dutch. The user checks the draft and signs and sends it.

What DutchLetter is not

DutchLetter is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. It explains letters and prepares draft texts. The explanations and drafts are generated with artificial intelligence and are checked against a knowledge base of Dutch letter types and legal rules. They can contain mistakes. For court summonses, immigration decisions and other serious matters the service refers to free professional help such as Het Juridisch Loket.

DutchLetter is not part of the Dutch government, the Belastingdienst or the CJIB.
